Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT):Little girl running on meadow with sunset

Vanessa Crisp is formally trained in trauma focused therapy for children and adolescents. She was trained by the Child Treatment Program to treat children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties after traumatic events. Through her extensive training,  she is able to help those to recover and heal from traumatic experiences.

What is TF-CBT?

TFCBT is an evidenced based therapy to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) among children and adolescents. This powerful and highly structured modality has been effective reducing PTSD symptoms and increasing hope and healing after traumatic experiences. You and your child will complete the sessions together and individually, and you will learn how to re-establish your life after the trauma. I will provide more information on TF-CBT for those who are seeing me for this type of therapy. TF-CBT can help those who have experienced the following traumas:

  • Sexual Abuse
  • Physical/Emotional Abuse and Neglect
  • Traumatic Grief- suffering the death of a loved one
  • Natural/Physical disasters
  • Exposure to domestic violence
  • Any event where the child interprets it as traumatic

Does My Child Need TF-CBT?

If your child has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event and is now suffering in his/her daily functioning he/she may qualify for this type of treatment. I can complete a trauma informed assessment to determine if your child meets criteria for TF-CBT.
